Biography

Alan Jay Ackerman serves as Outside Counsel to the Rabinovich Sokolov Law Group bringing with him over 46 years of experience to the team. Alan primarily focuses on estate planning and asset protection, serving high net worth individuals and the business community generally. He has worked extensively with dynasty trusts, domestic asset protection trusts, intentionally defective grantor trusts, life insurance trusts, incomplete gift trusts, charitable trusts, retirement benefits trusts, revocable living trusts, special needs trusts (for the disabled), and business succession planning.

Alan formerly served as corporate legal counsel to the estate planning and pension departments of Philadelphia Life Insurance Company and also as outside general counsel for the private client group of John Thomas Financial, a Wall Street based broker dealer. Alan earned his BA in Economics from Temple University in Philadelphia PA, where he also received his Juris Doctor.  He has held the designation of chartered life underwriter and chartered financial consultant since 1975 when he received this accreditation from the American College of Financial Services in Bryn Mawr, PA.

During his long career Alan has been an accredited educator, lecturing on estate planning to certified financial planning professionals and Certified Public Accountants. In addition, he has lectured on estate planning matters before bankers, investment firms and life insurance companies.

Alan is admitted to the practice of law in Pennsylvania and was a former, now retired member of the New York State Bar.
